SUSAN ANDERSEN OF SILVER CITY ATTENDS FIRST CONTINENTAL CONGRESS OF THE CHANDLER GUILDCottage Chandler Candle Company Wins Trade Show Award and Susan Joins Leadership TeamsFor Immediate Release
15 September 2003, Silver City, IA USA – Susan Andersen, of Silver City and owner of the Cottage Chandler Candle Company, recently attended the First Continental Congress of the Chandler Guild, a small business network of soybean wax candle makers. Susan and her company won a Founders' Blue Ribbon in the Guildmembers' Trade Show, and she helped to form and has joined two key Special Interest Groups within the Guild. "Susan Andersen is a talented candlemaker and skilled businesswoman," said Jim Salmons, co-founder of the Sohodojo R&D lab helping to start the Chandler Guild. "By attending the first Congress of the Chandler Guild, Susan has become a member of the Guild's Founders' Forum, and she will play a key role in helping to evolve this peer-managed business network for soybean wax candle makers." "The Cottage Chandler Candle Company is a perfect example of the small, family-oriented businesses that we want to see banding together for mutual support in the Chandler Guild," said Timlynn Babitsky. "During our two-day Congress in Cedar Rapids, Susan helped to form and has joined the Guild's Web Site Technical and Editorial team and our Membership team. Her enthusiasm and business experience will be a real asset to the Guild during our formative Year of Discovery and Innovation following the Congress. It is especially appropriate to recognize Susan's contribution to the Chandler Guild during Soybean Week In Iowa."
"The Chandler Guild Congress was an excellent opportunity to learn more about my craft, and to network with other soy wax candlemakers," said Susan Andersen. "I was especially inspired by the opportunity, as a Guild founding member, to pour into the mold for a 35-pound soy wax Giant Community Candle representing our commitment to work together to create a support network for small soy wax candle companies and artisans." Mills County was well-represented at the Chandler Guild's First Continental Congress. Susan was joined by Donna and Rich Dickeson of Glenwood who are investigating the possibility of developing their own soy wax candle business. The Chandler Guild and its web site are in the early stages of development. The Cottage Chandler Candle Company is located at 54689 295th Street, Silver City, IA 51571, telephone: 712-525-1162. ###
