Sohodojo Advisory Board Member SPECIAL ALERT! Enterprise Communities Need Your HelpThere Is Good News, The Senate Finance Committee Chairman's Mark For Community Renewal And New Markets Will Be Out Next Tuesday And Markup Is Set For Thursday, The Bad News Is That 95 Enterprise Communities Are Not In Proposed IRC Section 1397B.The following e-mail was sent out yesterday after a discussion with the Vice President's Office [He is Chairman of the Community Empowerment Board] It is interesting how they can write off 95 Enterprise Communities because they forgot about them, including Nashville Tenn, Bridgeport Conn, Little Rock Ark, Pittsburge Penn, Flint Mich, East St. Louis, and Watsonville, and all the others. We suggest that the mouse that roars is applicable here and the Mayor of San Antonio is roaring, along with the Mayor of Las Vegas. Maybe 95 Mayor can make a difference. Lets hear it from all. "...As noted today, from the Vice President's Office, Chairman Roth will announce his Chairman's Mark on Community Renewal early next week. Moreover, the Vice President's Office is unable to assist in getting the 95 Enterprise Communities added to IRC Section 1397B [Capital Gains Roll Over], "it would make them look foolish at this late date," a direct quote from head of the Legislative Affairs Office of the Community Empowerment Board. They do not expect the Chairman's Mark to include Enterprise Communities; and further she or Senator Robb's Office never heard from Senator Reid's Office. The Mayor of San Antonio is calling Senator Gramm's Office today to see if he will work on this issue, on behalf of the five Enterprise Communities in Texas, including San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Waco and El Paso. See what you can do tomorrow with Senator Robb. Thanks..." Jim Schneider, LL.M. << Previous issue] [Next issue >>
