Photo of Allan Cohen, distinguished professor at Babson College joins Sohodojo Advisory Board...11 November 2002, Wellesley, MA and Raleigh, NC USA – Allan Cohen, distinguished professor at Babson College and best-selling business book author has joined the Sohodojo Advisory Board to mentor the development of business education materials in support of solo and family-based entrepreneurs in rural and distressed urban communities, it was announced today by the non-profit R&D lab's Founders and Research Directors, Jim Salmons and Timlynn Babitsky.

"In addition to his extensive experience in direct teaching, Allan has played instrumental roles in the revision and extension of Babson College's business education curricula," said Timlynn Babitsky. "His intimate involvement in envisioning the innovative Babson College-Olin College of Engineering partnership that is integrating Babson's business education with Olin's technical curriculum is especially relevant to the Sohodojo R&D agenda."

"Dr. Cohen is widely respected for his teaching and consulting expertise in collaborative management and the exercise of influence without authority," said Jim Salmons. "This expertise will be invaluable to Sohodojo."

"In today's entrepreneurial small business network environments, effective influence and collaboration are essential," said Allan Cohen. "Jim and Timlynn will incorporate this perspective in the case study education materials Sohodojo develops to be used by business educators interested in exposing their students to the decentralized and distributed business web business models envisioned and evolving at Sohodojo."

Allan R. Cohen holds the Edward A. Madden Distinguished Professorship in Global Leadership at Babson College. Dr. Cohen recently completed seven years as Babson's vice president of academic affairs and dean of faculty. A consultant on organizational change for companies such as GE, he helped found the Indian Institute of Management. Dr. Cohen is coauthor of "Managing for Excellence," the award-winning "Alternative Work Arrangements: Integrating Individual and Organizational Needs," and "Influence without Authority." His latest book is "Power Up: Transforming Organizations Through Shared Leadership" and he is editor of the recently published "The Portable MBA in Management, Second Edition."
